JPB SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Volunteer Coordinator, you will work with each department in order to gain a full understanding of how Bracken’s Kitchen uniquely fights food insecurity. It will be the responsibility of the employee to pursue new ways to learn, grow, and assist staff as they become familiar with operations. An employee will be asked to provide support wherever needed based upon kitchen demand and do so while maintaining hospitality standards expected by all Bracken’s Kitchen team members.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Aids kitchen staff in cutting, cleaning, and cooking a variety of ingredients using chef knives, peelers, and other kitchenware

  • Provides packaging support through filling, sealing, and labeling cooked food

  • Completes the ServSafe Food Handler’s Certificate program

  • Light office administration functions, such as front desk greeting and basic data entry

  • Communicates clearly and regularly with the Volunteer Coordinator to ensure scheduling is confirmed

  • May require lifting up to 25 pounds. Able to stand for extended periods of time


REQUIREMENTS:

  • Is open to and adheres to instruction from kitchen and administrative staff on how to improve

  • Values and demonstrates courtesy, cooperation, fairness, honestly and objectivity in all interactions and encourages the same style of interaction from all volunteers and team members

  • Offer any specialized skills that could be utilized to further support the Bracken’s Kitchen mission

HOURS OF OPERATION:

 Monday - Friday: 9am - 4pm
