Job Summary:
Support the dispatch team at Second Harvest Food Bank. This role helps ensure drivers stay on schedule and that deliveries are accurate and timely. You’ll work in both office and warehouse environments, making a direct impact in the community.
Essential Job Duties:
Use tracking software to monitor delivery routes and identify when drivers may be delayed
Document and report differences between scheduled and actual arrival times, and the time spent at each stop
Communicate with the Dispatch or Logistics team about late deliveries, pickup issues, or requests to adjust schedules
Monitor and respond to emails related to delivery updates, issues, or changes
Ensure the dispatch calendar, route planning software, and daily driver assignments are accurate and up to date
Help create daily delivery routes based on scheduled stops and driver availability
Review and verify the Bill of Lading (BOL) to ensure that the correct products and quantities are loaded onto trucks
Confirm that all items loaded for delivery match the manifest documents
Safely move products using equipment such as a pallet jack or pallet wrapping machine (training provided; no prior experience needed)
Assist with tracking vehicle maintenance timelines and logging operational costs
Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements/Qualifications:
Strong attention to detail and organization
Positive attitude and willingness to learn
Good verbal and written communication
Basic computer knowledge (Microsoft Windows a plus)
Able to lift to 50 lbs. (reasonable accommodations available)
Comfortable working in both an office and warehouse environment
Work Experience Skills Developed:
Use tracking software to monitor delivery routes
Communicate with the Dispatch or Logistics team
Provide customer service related to delivery updates, issues, or changes
Management of dispatch calendar, route planning software, and daily driver assignments
Create daily delivery routes based on scheduled stops and driver availability
Review and verify the Bill of Lading (BOL)
Review and confirmation of Manifest documentation
Track vehicle maintenance timelines and log operational costs
Hours of Operation:
Monday through Friday
Flexible hours: Between 7:30 AM – 3:30 PM
